Twelve top industry leaders in color management training and innovation will be on hand for the Color Measurement and Management Symposium, June 25-27, at Clemson University, Clemson, SC, USA. The program features two and a half days of sessions that join these industry experts with Clemson faculty to provide a blend of lecture, round table discussions and intensive hands-on lab experiences. The program is hosted by PrintCon: Clemson’s Industry Training and Testing Center for Graphic Communications. Participants will learn workflow for color reproduction, calibration and use of color measurement devices, techniques for profiling scanners, digital cameras, computer monitors, proofing systems and press capabilities, and the application of these tools and techniques to ensure consistent and repeatable color reproduction. Attendee teams learn in real time, real workflow, real pressroom sessions that teach hands-on color management and to “run by the numbers” from image capture to final printed piece. The lab work is capped by a final proof-to-print evaluation session featuring the entire panel. This year there will be an added focus that will explore near neutral calibration as part of the lab sessions. All printing processes will be considered including flexography, offset, gravure, screen and digital printing and there is plenty of opportunity for discussion with the presenters and networking with other attendees. The “early rate” is $795 per person and includes most meals, social hours and an evening dinner event with the presenters. Group rates are also available for three or more. The presenters and experts leading the sessions include: Sam Ingram, Clemson University; Steve Smiley, Vertis; Roy Bohnen, Tekgraf/New Vision; Richard Black, APR Inc.; Heath Luetkens, CGS ORIS; Brian Ashe, X-Rite; Larry Wm. Evans, Printing Services Inc.; Jay Sperry, Clemson; Rory Marsoun, Clemson; Kern Cox, Clemson; Chip Tonkin, Sonoco Institute, Clemson; and Bobby Condgon, International Paper, Prepress Center. The symposium is co-presented by the FFTA and is part of Clemson’s Symposia Seminar Series.
